May

under the weather

my foreign boss injected into the heads of all the TLs in our small company the idea of having NO RIGHT to be sick. work, work, work is our mantra. if you’re not dying, then you have no business crawling into your bed. you haul your ass and report to the office. my co-workers and i jokingly refer to him as a human work machine. even the guy is a self-confessed work machine. thus, imagine my dismay for my ill health the past days.

may 1 started out bad for me. ha, i had to take several trips to the john to take care of my complaining beautiful u. what could have been a wonderful trip to several towns in bohol was ruined by my beautiful u acting up while on the road. tsk, tsk, tsk. naturally, instead of reporting back to work tuesday <may 2> i had to be confined at home. hopefully, to recharge from being drained, literally. as if the beautiful u complaint wasn’t enough, good old fever and loose bowel had to join the party. voila! two more days out of work <may 3&4>. of course, the workaholic kuno that is vet, couldn’t succumb to the terrible headaches. hard-headed that I am, i couldn’t resist logging in to the net and check on my men. right, i chatted with my co-TLs to discuss plans for May as they were to have a project meeting later in that afternoon. heck, i even had an online orientation with my new writer. pretending to be slightly better <with just a tolerable headache and acidic stomach to contend with>, i reported back to work friday. looking back, i had no choice but to report back as the salary of my men was on the line. i needed to submit my payroll report, so my men and I would get our pay come salary day. weekend, monday, tuesday passed like a blur. an earthquake hit leyte, disrupted power in the visayas, ergo no work. caloy kicked in. rain, rain, rain and my fever and colds were back. but then again, i wasn’t dying so i had to report to work. at least, i had the saturday afternoon off, and i successfully resisted going to the office sunday. now, today’s monday and I’m only battling bouts of colds and cough. life couldn’t be better???

am crossing my fingers that the coming days will start to look up.
