waiting in line for the movie, ‘the da vinci code’
april 16, 1996. that was the date we all graduated from high school. some of us braved continuing our college education at the institution right across U.P. High. While some others had enough of being called "iskas and iskos" and opted to go to other universities in and out of cebu. some one hundred [or so] of us went our separate ways to go where the tides took us. now, several days and a decade after, the tides once again brought us back together to provide opportunity for us to bring back the memories that we all shared when our identities were then 92-xxxx.
random thoughts
26.6% of the whole U.P. High Batch 1996 went to ratskys and bbq.com to attend our so called reunion. the turn out wasn’t as good as i had hoped it to be. although, seeing the other thirty-one classmates after ten years more than compensate for those who were unable to attend. observing all the other 31 was truly exhilirating to me. like i said in one of my earlier blogs, i live vicariously, thus i take pleasure in learning things by observing and listening to other people. thus, it was so great to see for myself the people whom i literally grew up with became what they are now. the little people that we were once turned out to become doctors, teachers, bankers, accountants, sales people and what have you. ha. i think of all the people who were there, i think i was the only one who ended up working with words and got paid criticizing other people’s writings.
as in any typical reunions, each of my classmates had stories to tell. of all the stories that i heard last night, i was saddened to hear the story of congressman. i don’t know if it was just the effect of tequila and beer combined, but i swear i could hear the sadness, regret, and a little bit of anger and confusion in my classmate’s voice as he related his lost love. well, i’m sure said classmate will find his way to the partner that he longed to have, so long as he stop challenging fate by beating red lights on his bike.
sex stories and sexcapades. the night was full of them. that’s when i came to realize that indeed we all have grown up, or have i? well, vicarious learning again… what can i say..
missed people. most of my closest friends in high school failed to attend. primarily because they are now based outside the country. flying in for the reunion was out of the question. yogi is in the u.s, cheryl solon is in thailand, cheryl lee is in dubai, while florence is in taiwan, and barbra is in the u.s as well. meanwhile, the others had reasons of their own. muriel got sick, jennifer was out of town for a company outing, ellen - i sure wanted to see her, but i lost contact with her. i believe she didn’t know that there was one. jonathan - i don’t know exactly my seatmate’s reason/s for not coming, but seeing him there would have been great. dobe - well, she’s out of town for reasons that i’m in no position to share. truly miss this lady. lilibeth - according to ems, she had to go to work then. it would have been good to see her too, as she’s the most transformed among all the female classmates in high school. speaking of lilibeth, i’m reminded of amethyst and i can’t wait to find out if she has passed the medical board. mark marinas - ha, i’m curious to meet a former classmate who turned out to be a surgeon, way cool and i honestly have not seen him since high school graduation.

alexander calago - i remember him to be a great artist, so if there’s anyone who care to read through my crap and knows of his whereabouts, please do contact me, i sure want to talk to him. ha, for selfish reasons as our company is continuously seeking for artists and flash animators. i don’t know if he’s knowledgeable about photoshop, but that’s what i want to find out, that is of course, if he’s currently out of work. johnny polancos - ha, just to see if he still has that broad shoulders. lloyd suico — the height and wide grin, that’s all i remember of him and super buotan even if la jud ko ato ka.istorya. raymund berdin — who could forget his trendy khakis for a uniform? birthie oporto — i wonder what has become of her? donna domasian — hehehe, had a little incident with her husband over a mc do crew’s accusation of scheming on our part. chelle castillo — she’s as unforgettable as ever, so it’d be good to see her again.
