the past week has got to be the most interesting week for me.
first off, i stayed in the office from sept. 7[friday] to sept. 10[monday]. haha, i’ve to finish something and catch up on my back log. going home was not an option to me as i hate to be interrupted when my brain is on the roll. i only stepped out of the office to get a quick breakfast, lunch, or dinner. as for shower, well - a person can be creative when presented with a similar situation. anyway, my initial target was to finish work before lunch of sunday. but alas, my tired body claimed its much awaited rest. at 2 a.m. i dozed off and didn’t wake up until 10 of sunday morning. freshened up myself and went back to my station to work. after an hour in front of the monitor, my stomach aired its complaints. heck, why wouldn’t it grumbled when i forgot that i didn’t have dinner the previous night and didnt have any plans of grabbing breakfast. against my brain’s will, i stepped out of the office to get myself some brunch. i logged out. heard an error beep. thought that the computer must have read my card twice, thus, the error beep. left the office. grabbed brunch. voila, when i returned to the office, i couldn’t get in as there was an error. now what? luckily, one of our employees lives just a few paces away from the office. went to his house and asked if he could come with me and use his ID to log in and thus, open our main door. unfortunately, he too got an error message and couldn’t open our door. tough luck. i didn’t have my phone with me as i left it on my desk. i could go to another officemate to borrow his/her ID, but it’s impossible as i was as penniless as a beggar. i used up the last money in my pocket for lunch. i couldn’t withdraw from the nearby ATM machine as i don’t carry wallets with me around and my card holder is in my bag, which i left in the office. go figure.
so, i asked my officemate to call his sister and have pink dimples contact firefoxiscool. i waited for like an hour or so before the office was finally opened. i ended up finishing the whole work at 5 a.m. the next morning. at around 5:30, i left the office and came back to work at a little past 9.
as a reward to that gruelling weekend, i, together with two other officemates, went to grab dinner at the parklane hotel. well, i’ve always wanted to try out fancy places even just once. so another suicide dinner for me. overall, the food treat/selection at manuel’s wasn’t as extensive as the other buffet dinner i’ve tried, but they’re good nevertheless. or i’m just a sucker for any crepe recipes that i can total forget what i’ve had before the dessert.
moving forward to tuesday. the day was as ordinary as it can be, until i returned to the office from a quick dinner at a little past 7 p.m. firefox iscool greeted me with, ”vet, mk wants us to fly to manila. he wants to have a meeting with the five of us at 11 a.m. tomorrow.” i was like, what????? don’t you realize what time it is? it’s past 7 p.m., airline booking agencies are closed or about to close for the day. there’s no way we can get tickets at this hour. anyway, our pseudo-boss called to tell us to find all means to get ourselves to manila.
we tried online booking and realized that flight date should at least be 24hours from booking date to be processed. thus, we tried calling all airlines servicing the cebu-manila route. then soon-to-be-married-programmer was able to connect to pal’s manila booking office and successfully booked a flight for five. our flight to manila was at 6:45 a.m. the agent told stbp that we could get and pay for our e-ticket at their ticketing office at the airport that night. thus, past 9 p.m, we went to the airport only to find out that the ticketing office doesn’t run a 24-hour service.
